Job Title: Orchestra Director
Reports to: Campus Principal and Director of Fine Arts

Primary Purpose:
Provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular orchestra activities and ensure compliance with all state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and district requirements. Plan activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Music Education or performance degree required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of overall operation of instrumental music program
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing orchestra
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Works closely with Intermediate School, Middle School and other High School Directors:
- Scheduling in collaboration with other school staff and Director of Fine Arts
- Curriculum development and implementation
- Coordinating entries into TMEA and UIL events
- Coordinating public relations with the CSISD Communications Office
- Coordination of scheduling of all orchestra classes
- Possible development of Orchestra boosters club
- Team teaching, as needed, at selected CSISD schools
- Identifying and recruiting personnel for the orchestra staff (as needed)
- Active participant in school wide fine arts musicals
