Primary Purpose:

Under general supervision, maintain the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures districtwide. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.

 

Education/Certification:

Valid Texas driver’s license, Texas journeyman plumber license

Experience:

Five years experience in plumbing field

Equipment Used:

Hand and power tools; pipe bender; propane torch; welding equipment; sewer rooter; ladders; elevated lift equipment; heavy equipment, including forklift, trencher, backhoe; light truck or van.

This job requires the following physical demands:  significant lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; frequent walking, standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching and/or crawling; work at elevated heights; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions; significant fine finger dexterity.  The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and smell.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, and peripheral vision.  Demonstrate strength and dexterity to operate tools and equipment.  Occasionally required to work from ladders; exposed to noise from power equipment; and work around gas lines, fumes and toxic chemicals.

 

Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 50% walking, and 45% standing.  Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.  The job is performed under some temperature extremes and hazardous conditions and requires frequent districtwide travel.
