Primary Purpose:
To lead the high school cheer program by promoting good citizenship and preparing, motivating and encouraging each student to reach his or her full potential within a safe, caring, cooperative environment in the primary aspects of school and community spirit and high performance standards in statewide competition.

Education/Certification:
Coaches and sponsors of cheerleading and spirit programs must complete the following education and training requirements:
- AED & CPR Certification
- UIL Concussion Education
- Cheer Specific Safety Course
- UIL Rules Compliance Program through Register My Athlete:
- UIL Safety Training for Extracurricular Activities
•Spirit Specific Module
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operate high school cheer program in accordance with CSISD and UIL policy
- Effectively lead a successful program that develops character in student athletes, maximizes talents, maximize time with organization of practices
- Promotes a positive image for the CSISD community
- Creates a positive, caring climate for staff and students within the high school cheer program
- Works collaboratively with campus level and district level administration for continuous growth in a shared vision
- Promotes school and community spirit by participating in opportunities to represent the school and supports athletic programs
- Prioritizes high performance standards in Spirit competitions
Administration:
- Manage allotted budget and selection of uniforms and material needed for student success
- Oversee the tryout process along with a school assistant principal to ensure all procedures are carried out appropriately
- Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the athletic programs
- Details expectations prior to the start of the new cheer year with a parent meeting
Program Management:
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students athletic ability on a regular basis
- Recommend hiring of assistant coach
- Requisition supplies, uniforms and equipment for your sport in cooperation with assistant athletic director
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation
- Set clear and consistent program expectations that parallel district philosophy
Student Management:
- Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports and out of town trips
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with student code of conduct and student handbook
- Ensure with student athletes that you encourage by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation…creating an atmosphere that places equal emphasis on every sport
Communication:
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, assistant athletic director and director of student activities
- Use technology effectively in communications, instruction and administrative tasks
Other:
- Attend designated campus athletic events
- Keep informed of and ensures compliance with all UIL rules
- Attend meeting with athletic director
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.

Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned. The employee may spend long hours in intense concentration which requires attention to detail. There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stress. The employee must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues. Regularly perform multiple, highly complex, tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions and compliance with legal guidelines. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances and integrate into different school environments. Occasionally work prolonged and irregular hours.
